This 2-night, one-of-a-kind expedition leads you to some of the most hidden yet charming landscapes that lie between Adelaide and Darwin and most certainly qualifies as one of the world’s great rail journeys. There is no shortage of cinematic landscapes to view as the train makes its way from South to North and you will be able to see the almost magical transition from the lush green fields of South Australia to the dry red centre of the Alice and onto the tropical Top End of Katherine.

The magnificence of the landscapes is highlighted by The Ghan’s off-train excursions along the way. The various excursions allow people of all fitness levels to choose experiences that suit them and create their own personal journey. From river cruises, discovery walks, cultural experiences and optional camel rides or helicopter flights, there is something to suit everyone.

After a day of off-train activities, your cabin provides the perfect place to relax and recharge before heading for the lounge or dining carriage. Cleverly designed and with room to stretch out, the comfortable sleeper cabin features a three-seater lounge by day that converts to upper and lower berths at night. The private ensuite features a shower, toilet and basin along with Australian bathroom amenities.

In addition to the comfort of your beautifully appointed cabin, each of the dining carriages has its own ambience and experiences. The Queen Adelaide restaurant evokes the golden era of rail with art deco fixtures and beautifully prepared meals from a seasonal menu. The Outback Explorer Lounges is the social hub of the train and is the perfect setting to get to know fellow travellers, enjoy the well-stocked games, books and magazines, have a light refreshment and snack, and catch glimpses of the passing landscape through wide picture windows.
